Floyd Arana Fishing & Tours Dory Fishing Competition
Date: Saturday, June 2, 2018
Time: 6am Start, 3pm Weigh-In
Entry fee: $15 per dory and $5 per person
Fishing format: All fishing must be performed using the traditional wood dories and hand lines during the stated hours. All fish must meet the requirements of the Belize Fisheries to be included.
A 20% bonus will be awarded in each category for boats that include fisherfolk under the age of 15.

Travellers 2018 Hopkins Mangu Fest drinks competition!
Each mixologist will mix two cocktails for each recipe they submit into the Travellers 2018 Hopkins Mangu Fest drinks competition at an assigned time beginning at noon on Saturday, June 2. Each entered cocktail will be privately tasted by our panel of judges. From the initial tastings, the five highest scoring cocktails will advance to the final round that will start at 4p.m. An announcement of the five finalists will be made at 2:45p.m. The final tasting will take place during the festival before the audience. Each judge will score each entry based on taste (45), presentation (25), originality (15), simplicity (10), and name (5) (100 point total). The scores will be secured, tallied, and audited. The Judges will declare the highest scoring drink the “Travellers 2018 Hopkins Mangu Fest Drinks Champion.”
The winner will be announced live at Hopkins Mangu Fest at 11:30am on Sunday June 3, and then online at www.hopkinsmangofest.bz, and on Facebook @hopkinsmangufest.
Prizes: The mixologist submitting the winning recipes will receive: • One case of Travellers award winning One Barrell rum • Award Certificate • Featured photography on the Hopkins Mangu Fest website • A social media update with link to the winning recipe at the mixologist’s business location via Hopkins Mangu Fest Facebook and Instagram pages.
Rules for creating your cocktail: • Each cocktail recipe must be original and contain a minimum of three and a maximum of six ingredients, not including drops, dashes, and garnishes. • Each cocktail must feature a Travellers brand spirit as the primary liquor. • Each cocktail must feature mango as a prominent ingredient. • Basic fruit juice, non-alcoholic mixers, and bitters are permitted but no homemade, previously blended ingredients or ice-cream will be allowed. • Each mixologist must provide all fresh produce, juices, garnishes, and specialized glassware. • Hopkins Mangu Fest will provide the Travellers spirits, basic glasses, and ice. • Two cocktails will be mixed for each recipe. Please ensure you bring sufficient quantities.
How to submit your entry:
- Please fill in one entry form for each cocktail entered (mixologists may enter as many recipes as they wish but should identify entries by number. The second and subsequent entries will only be allowed if the entry limit is not met.)
- Pay the entry fee of BZ$20 for each cocktail.
- Return the original entry form(s) along with recipe. The recipe should clearly indicate the ingredients, measures, method, garnish and type of glass to be used.
- Entry forms and recipes should be sent by email, post, or hand delivery with payment to: Hopkins Mangu Fest, Box 335, Dangriga Town. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
All Hopkins Mangu Fest visitors are eligible to enter.
Entry forms and payment must be received by noon June 1, 2018. Include recipe written on a 5×7 inch index card or by email. Contest limited to the first 25 entries. No late entries will be accepted.
Judging will begin at 12:00 p.m. on June 2, 2018. The decision of the judges will be final. No tasting or sampling from anyone other than contestant and judges is allowed at any time.

Dashiki Silent Auction: Sponsored by Tina’s Kitchen. The maker
The talented tailors and seamstresses that choose to support Hopkins Mangu Fest in this endeavor will have an opportunity to show-case their skills with a silent auction. The proceeds of the silent auction will be split 50/50 with the maker and the event.
During both days of Hopkins Mangu Fest, the participating dashiskis will be hung prominently for festival-goers viewing. Bid cards will be there for the bids to be placed with a phone number for bid verification. At the end of the auction, 2p.m. on Sunday June 3, the highest bids will be identified, verified, and notified. In the event of an unverified bid, the next highest bid will then be considered until verification is achieved.
